To create an effective concept for reducing radon levels, a number of factors have to be considered.

NEW CONSTRUCTION:

For a new building in the planning stage, the situation is relatively simple. The gas-tight RadonProtect Foil System is used under the foundation slab. This preventative measure ensures that radon cannot penetrate the base plate.

If necessary, the RadonProtect System can be combined with the ventilation floor WIKA Hobo. This is especially useful if very high radon levels have been measured in the soil air.

Existing buildings:

The radon levels in an existing building depend primarily on its structural condition. Are there cracks, joints, leaks in the base plate or in the masonry? Can radon penetrate into the building along cables or pipes? Are there any leaking manholes?

The radon entry points can be located  by specific measurements. The appropriate remediation options for radon reduction are then derived from the results. Options are different sealing and ventilation measures.

The RadonProtect System is used as a gas-tight barrier membrane for direct sealing eg on the bottom plate under the screed. Also indoors, the RadonProtect Foil System can be combined with the ventilation floor WIKA Hobo.

After completion of the remediation measures, final measurements will monitor and prove their successful implemenation
